Joanna Mirsky Wexler, BSc, MA, CPA-CGA

Biography
Originally from Montreal, Joanna Mirsky Wexler holds a Bsc in Marine biology (Dalhousie, 1996), a CPA-CGA accounting designation (2010), and an MA in Interdisciplinary Studies from Athabasca University (2023).

As a CPA-CGA, Joanna has owned and operated a small business in bookkeeping and financial consultation since 2011.
​
She enjoys being active in community, currently holding the volunteer positions of National CIJA Board Member (Atlantic Jewish Council rep), Nova Scotia Liberal Party Board of Directors (Member at Large), Chair of the Board of Directors of the Shaar Shalom Congregation, Treasurer for the Prospect Timberlea Electoral District Association, Jerusalem Foundation Canada Board of Directors, and Co- Chair for Interfaith Harmony Halifax. She is a part time educator at the Halifax Hebrew school, teaching language, customs and Jewish History.

She has served on the boards for a number of organizations in Halifax including Youth Art Connection, The PRES PTA, Atlantic Jewish Council, and the NS Camping Association. She has also volunteered internationally with ReefCI in Belize, Hogar Diamante with street youth in Honduras; at Mother Theresa House, an orphanage in Calcutta, India; on a kibbutz in Southern Israel and worked as part of an Environmental Scuba Research team in Eilat.

Joanna was Camp Kadimah Director from 2006-2010 and worked with the Atlantic Jewish Council for almost a decade with University Students throughout Atlantic Canada, as fundraiser, Kadimah programmer & administrator, and financial controller.
​
Her passions include travel, learning new languages, singing, guitar, and scuba diving.

Joanna lives in Halifax, Nova Scotia with her husband and two children.
